Exclusions from Warranty Coverage:

Exposure to air pollutants and normal atmospheric conditions may cause Thermalite surfaces to gradually suffer an accumulation of surface dirt or stains.

These are normal occurrences and are not covered under this Warranty.

Any defect, malfunction, or failure to perform which has occurred because of unreasonable use, improper application, or failure to perform reasonable or necessary maintenance.

Shutters which have not been cleaned in accordance with the instructions in the Maintenance and Cleaning section of this document.

Any damage to the Shutters or components of the Shutters caused by settlement or structural defects of the building in which they are installed.

Any damage caused by wind, hail, lightning, or other acts of God, intentional acts, accidents, negligence, or exposure to harmful chemicals or pollutants.

Damage caused by improper handling or installation.

Any Shutter which has been repaired or modified by any person other than a duly authorised representative of the Manufacturer.

Shutters made without divider rails or which are wider, higher, or of greater area than the recommended sizes are not warranted.

Procedure and Conditions of Warranty Remedy:

Any necessary repairs will be carried out at the Manufacturer’s factory.

Shutters must be transported to the retailer from which the Shutters were purchased and then to the Manufacturer’s factory.

Neither the Manufacturer nor the retailer will be responsible for any costs incurred in transporting the Shutters nor for any other costs related to removal or reinstallation of the Shutters.

In the event of a warranty claim, the Owner must notify the retailer in writing within thirty (30) days after the defect first appeared. Such notification must contain the following:

  • Name and address of the Owner.
  • Date of installation.
  • A brief description of the defect.
  • Proof of purchase.
  • Proof of transfer.

If the Owner is of the view that the defect should be covered by this Warranty, the Owner may, at his or her own expense, arrange for delivery of the Shutters to the retailer and in turn to the Manufacturer’s factory for repairs. Upon inspection, the Manufacturer will determine whether the defect is covered by the Warranty. If the defect is covered by the Warranty, the product will be repaired or replaced at the discretion of the Manufacturer.

If the defect is not covered by the Warranty, the Manufacturer will inform the retailer of costs and options related to the defect. Retailer authorisation is required before the Manufacturer will repair, modify, or replace a product not covered by the terms of this Warranty.

Any costs or charges will be charged by the Manufacturer to the retailer.

The retailer will be responsible for collecting these charges from the Owner.

  • Washing with mild soap and water or a mild household dishwashing liquid, using a soft cloth, generally will be sufficient.
  • Mild, water-based, household cleaners can be used on dirt and stains which are more difficult to remove.
  • External Shutters should be hosed down regularly and washed with a mild soap solution to remove salt and air pollutants.
  • Shutter hardware should be sprayed regularly with a silicon spray.

Warranty Terms

This warranty is for the benefit of the original purchaser and is not transferable. This warranty does not cover colour variations which exist between dye lots or batches or any situation arising where damage to the blind has occurred through failure to follow prescribed instructions with respect to cleaning or maintenance. It does not cover unauthorised repairs, accidents, alterations, misuse, abuse, acts of God, normal wear and tear, limited fading over the lifetime of the product or exposure to unsuitable conditions or extreme outdoor elements.

Variable warranties periods apply to different fabrics and depends on the fabric/manufacturer selected. Standard warranties apply to motorisation components depending on the product and manufacturer. In general, Acmeda motors are warranted for 5 years and Somfy motors are warranted for 3 years, unless otherwise specified. Please see below for the warranty period(s) that applies to the fabric/motorisation you have selected.

This warranty solely covers the replacement or repair of the roller blind, motorisation and hardware, including the removal and re-installation. It does not cover damage to anything else including (but not limited to) furniture, opening architraves or walls. Please remember to ensure your windows are closed in strong wind and/or rain/storms. This will avoid any damage to the blinds as well as your furniture and walls, as this is not covered by the warranty.

In addition, warranty does not apply to any blind that has been deemed outside of the product size limits. If this clause applies to you, you will have been informed in writing prior to you placing your order.

The below is not covered by the warranty

Side/Light Gaps

In all instances, the fabric on the Roller Blind will be narrower than the ‘bracket to bracket’ size of the blind. Light gaps will be most prominent when the blind is fitted as a ‘reveal mount’ (inside mount) and more noticeable when the blind is a blockout fabric. A gap not limited to of approximately 14mm to 20mm per side should be expected. A gap between two ‘butted’ blinds is approximately 17 to 25mm. At all times we try to line this gap with the window mullions.

Smaller Width Roller Blinds

Roller Blinds with a width of 600mm or less are susceptible to the fabric rolling off to one side and may result in the fabric rolling unevenly and overlapping the end of the tube. This does not mean the blind is out of square. It is caused by the lack of weight in a small blind, even at full length drop. In most circumstances we have methods to eliminate/reduce this from happening.

Larger Width Roller Blinds

Roller Blinds with a width over 2400mm or larger than 6sqm may show a degree of fabric veeing/wavering, and this may be more visible/noticeable when viewed from the inside. Some fabrics show this more than others. We use heavy duty hardware (if required) to reduce the likelihood of this happening. Blinds longer than 3000mm drop may experience a level of veeing in the fabric due to tube deflection, and this is considered normal.

Fabric indentations after install

Sometimes the fabric may have indentations visible after the roller blind is installed. We always check for this when installing. Some fabrics are much worse for this then other fabrics. If your roller blind fabric has indentations after installation and you believe it was indented during or before installation you must notify us via email within 24 hours to claim warranty. After this period, indentations will not be warranted as we are unable to be certain it wasn’t indented after installation. In addition, we generally allow up to 10 weeks for indentation to disappear before replacing the fabric.

Stains and Dirt:

The warranty does not cover stains and dirt. Below is a good guide as to how to remove/reduce stains and dirt.

1-5 Year Warranty on Fabric
3-5 Year Warranty on Structural

The timber under a stained or clear lacquer finish is subject to change of colour, from influences beyond human control. This change in colour is expected, and cannot normally be claimed as a defect under warranty.

In all instances, light gaps on vertical blind installations is normal as these blinds are not a 100% light block option.

Any issues, limitations, or modifications discussed in any form of communications may modify or exclude this warranty in part or full at Enhance Shutters & Blinds sole discretion.

The warranty does not cover stains and dirt. Please see over page for a guide on how to remove/reduce stains and dirt.

Sometimes the fabric may have indentations or marks visible after the blind is installed. We always check for this when installing. Some fabrics are much worse for this then other fabrics. Generally, this will disappear over the first few weeks with the fabric hanging and the warm sun. Please allow up to 10 weeks for indentation and marks to disappear. You must report any indentations or marks within 24 hours of installation so we can report it to the manufacturer for possible replacement down the track. If it isn’t reported straight away the manufacturer will not warrant it.

Cleaning and Tensioning

As for all quality products, appropriate cleaning and maintenance is highly recommended. Cleaning is easy if you follow the below steps.

Cleaning of Shutters

For general cleaning simply open the louvres (blades) and with a feather duster dust off.

For any grime use a damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use any solvents. Simply wipe the damp cloth over the shutters to remove and dust and grime film.

Tensioning of Shutters

If required, you can tension the drive blade. Remove the plastic cap on the side of the panel. Place a Phillips head screwdriver into the hole and gently turn clockwise until you feel the blade has enough tension so that the blades stay in their position.

However, be very carefully not to over tension the drive blade as this is not covered under warranty.

Care & Maintenance of Roller Blinds

Most blind fabrics have stain-resistant protection. Cleaning and maintenance of the fabrics should be done with a vacuum and brush attachment to remove any loose dirt, fluff or dead bugs.

For small wet or fresh marks, we recommend using a baby wipe, moving in a light circular motion.

For small dry marks i.e dirt smudges, we recommend using a white pencil eraser, applied lightly until the mark is erased.

Never use abrasive products or solvents/industrial based cleaners.

CAUTION: Never use harsh abrasives, chlorine-based cleaners and cleaners containing organic solvents on Premium Thermalite Plantation Shutters as they may affect the surface appearance and durability
